1. Take steps to include third gender in UPSC exam: HC to Centre

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has directed the Centre to take necessary steps to "expeditiously" modify the rules regarding the prestigious civil services examinations to incorporate transgender or third gender in the exam application forms. Referring to the landmark judgement passed by the Supreme Court on April 15, 2014 granting legal recognition to transgenders or eunuchs as third category of gender, a bench asked the Centre to take urgent steps in this regard.

2. RRB NTPC 2016 exam: Updated answer key in September or October

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has said that it will release the updated answer keys and candidates' response for Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) examination 2016 on its websites in September or October. In a notification issued on Tuesday, the RRB said that the updated answer keys will take into consideration the objections raised by candidates to questions/answer keys that were released on August 12.

3. MBBS in pvt colleges will cost you more

Indore: The Admission and Fees Regulatory Committee (AFRC) has approved 33% to 53% increase in the MBBS course tuition fee in private colleges of the state. It will be applicable from the upcoming academic session scheduled to start from October first week. According to a notification issued by AFRC, first year students in the MBBS course will have to pay Rs 5 to 5.72 lakh as tuition fee; the fee last year was Rs 3.75 to 4 lakh. In premier colleges, a student joining MBBS this year will end up paying at least Rs28 lakh for the four-and-a-half-year course, excluding illegal capitation fee.

4. Private schools asked to follow RTE guidelines in Odisha

KORAPUT (ODISHA): Private schools in Koraput district have been asked to follow the guidelines of the Right to Education (RTE) Act and get their doubts, if any, cleared by the district education office. A meeting in this regard was organized by the district administration recently in which principals of over 80 private schools participated.

NEW DELHI: Every disabled child studying in Delhi government run and aided schools will now get personal attention with the AAP government asking special educators to prepare an individualized education programme (IEP). "Special educators placed in government run and aided schools have been asked to prepare an individualized education programme for every disabled child in their care.

6. Why young adults with lower education, income level are prone to obesity

Social determinants of health, which are the conditions in which people are born, live, learn, work, play,affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks, according to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention. About the research: For the study, the researchers examined the health records of 22,823 ethnically diverse individuals who were in the age group of 18 years for four years with normal weight based on BMI less than 25. Over a period of four years, researchers found that about 23 per cent of the normal-weight teenagers with low education living in neighbourhoods became overweight and about 2 per cent of those became obese who are living in lower income neighbourhoods.

9. Maharashtra board SSC supplementary exam results

Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) on Tuesday declared the results of SSC (Class 10) supplementary examination. The examinations were held in July this year. Out of 1,42, 968 candidates who had appeared in the examination 39, 994 were declared successful. Thus overall pass percentage was 27.97%. 10. IITs at the bottom of Asia's innovative univ ranking, patent system to be blamed

The Indian Institutes of Technology at Delhi and Mumbai are at the bottom of Asia's most innovative universities' rankings released late Tuesday and the reason is the bunching of their research work with that of smaller IITs. The IITs rank 72 on the Reuters Top 75: Asia's Most Innovative Universities list that identifies institutions doing the most to advance science, invent new technologies and help drive the global economy. The Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, the only other Indian institute in the list, is ranked 73.
