Five steps to qualify Medical Entrance Exams in India

by Vivek Singh | Aug 08, 2013

As soon as students take Biology as the major subject during their higher secondary studies, most of the students dream to become doctor. Similar to other fields of education, not all biology students fulfill their dreams to qualify the medical entrance exams. In this cut- throat competition, it's important to have full proof strategy and systematical study plan so that you can clear this hurdle easily.

In this article, I will explain some of the tips what students can follow to crack Indian medical entrance exams. It's based on my personal experience and hope it would work to all BharatTutors readers:

1. Set your dream: The first step to make your dream true is set you dream. What do you really want to be? Do you want to pursue MBBS or BDS? Do you want to join AIIMS or KGMC? Students can consult an expert, experienced doctor/ tutor to know more about various streams in the field of medical science and get familiar about the duties of the associated professionals. One should take care while doing this step as once you are done with this and proceed to next step; it would consume many resources again to finalize this step. For an example, the student should make sure that s/he wants to do MBBS from AIIMS or BDS from AFMC. Now your dream is defined!

2. Analyze you dream and plan: So far, the dream, or say target has been defined. Now you need to analyze how to achieve this target and how many hours of study is required to pass the concerned medical entrance exam. It's very important to consult an experience medical student, expert tutor, or do research yourself. Consider Google as you friend; you can do an intensive online search yourself. Don't forget to document all of your findings. The more you do analysis at this stage, easier will be the next step.

3. Make a plan: In this step you need to make the study plan and time plan. You need to figure out how much time you need to devote to which subject. Don't neglect any subject considering it as an easy subject. For an example, if you are good in Chemistry, make sure you allocate enough hours to brush up your chemistry skills and do not ignore this as an easy subject. You can allocate hours to each subject as per your requirement and your strengths. Some students like to study in morning and some in night. As per my experience, it doesn't make any significant difference. It's all up to your choice and preference.

4. Test and motivate yourself: It's important to test your understandings and skills time to time. This makes sure that you are at right path and figures out your weak points. You can take previous year's medical entrance question papers and try to solve those questions what you have studied so far. Don't try to solve those questions which you haven't study yet. Once you get good score in these tests, award yourself. This may be anything as per your wish like going to a movie, playing half an hour video game or reading your favorite comics. This not only recharges your mind but also motivates you to do better next time.

5. At the time of exam: Now it's time for your medical entrance exam. Try to complete your regular studies before one or two months of your medical entrance exam. You need to more focus on previous year's question papers and mock tests during these one-two months. You need to be in regular contact with your medical entrance tutor and ask any last time question to him/ her. Have patience and do your best in the exam. Remember, it's not important what you become; important is to excel in whatever you do.

On the behalf of BharatTutors, I would like to extend my heartiest wishes to all of the Medical Entrance Exam aspirants
