1. National Institute of Plant Genome Research Notified Admission to PhD Programme 2014

National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi- an Autonomous Research Institution, funded by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, invited application from eligible candidates for admissions to Ph. D programme for conducting advanced researches in the frontier areas of Plant Biology such as, Computational Biology, Genome Analysis and Molecular Mapping, Molecular Mechanism of Abiotic Stress Responses, Nutritional Genomics, Plant Development and Architecture, Plant Immunity, Transgenics for Crop improvement, Molecular Breeding and other emerging areas based on plant genomics.

2. AIPMT 2014: Correct Admit Card Error before 20 April

The Admit Cards for AIPMT 2014 have been uploaded at the official AIPMT website: on 02 April 2014 and are available to download for students. They can download their respective admit cards by entering their registration number and date of birth.
The admit cards would include Roll Number, Name, Father's Name, Category, Sub-Category, Photograph, Signature, Date of Birth, Language of Question Paper with Name and Address of AIPMT 2014 Examination centre allotted.

3. UGC Suspends Approval of New Technical Institutes for a Year

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to suspend approval and regulation of new technical institutes for a year, extending stay on respective guidelines issued just a few days ago.
Consequently, no new technical institutes will be set up in the country for a whole year, and subsequently, there will be constant intake numbers in the existing institutes for the academic year 2014-15.
In a notice released on 03 April, universities are asked to "neither invite nor process" any application, although, earlier the UGC asked universities to grant affiliation to new engineering, pharmacy and hotel management colleges in March.

4. SBI PO Exam 2014: Notification

State Bank of India (SBI) invited application for recruitment to the 1897 posts of Probationary Officer through SBI PO Exam 2014. The candidates eligible for the post can apply through prescribed format before 24 April 2014.Important Dates

5. IIT-Madras Notified for Admission to M. Tech Programme for Session 2014-2015

Indian Institute of Technology, Madras invites application for admission to M.Tech programme for the new academic session 2014-2015, commencing from July 2014. Interested applicants can send their both application in the prescribed format on or before 12 April and 21 April 2014.
The 2-year (four-semester) M.Tech Programmes offered in various Disciplines and Programmes by different departments of the institute are based on the credit system and provide a student with a wide choice of courses.

6. UP Technical University finds unique a way to check impersonation

LUCKNOW: Learning lessons from last year's large-scale impersonation, UP Technical University (UPTU) has introduced some changes in the state entrance examination-2014 for admissions to technical colleges. Candidates appearing for the exam will have to write two to three sentences in their own handwriting on the first page of the question paper booklet. Since exam is objective type, there was no proof of whether the applicant and the examinee were the same.
Another major change is in the admit cards. Officials said this year, admit card will have two columns for candidate's signature and their thumb impression. All candidates can download their admit card.

7. B-schools upbeat about admissions

PUNE: With the reintroduction of the 'Mah-MBA/MMS-CET' this year, management institutes in the state are expecting a significant rise in the number of admissions to the MBA or postgraduate diploma in management (PGDM) courses. Last year, over 40% of the 45,000-plus seats had remained vacant.
Results of the Mah-MBA/MMS-CET will be declared on April 21 and the same will kick off the centralized admission process (CAP) that will feature three rounds, followed by the counseling-based final round.

8. 4 lakh take Joint Entrance Examination (Main) exam

NEW DELHI: About 14 lakh students appeared for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2014, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Sunday.
Students who clear the exam will be eligible to take admission in the undergraduate engineering programmes in NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutes in India. The exam was held at 150 centres across the country and the result will be declared May 3.
It was paper-based and held offline. The online examination will be held April 9, 11 and 12. After the exam, Yash Raj Rai who is aspiring for an engineering seat, said: "The paper today was very easy and I am hoping for a 120+ rank."

Delhi University invites applications for its MA/ M.Sc in Statistics programme for the academic year 2014. The syllabus of M.A./ M.Sc. course has been revised and restructured periodically to incorporate and reflect the latest in the discipline. Eligible students can apply online by logging on to the official website of DU.

Army Institute of Technology (AIT), Pune, invites applications for admission to Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) courses commencing in 2014. For the B.E courses commencing July 2014, 300 seats are available at AIT (120 seats in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, 60 seats each in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Information Technology), for wards of Army personnel through JEE (Main) All India Rank.
