1. IIT-Madras Notified for Admission to M. Tech Programme for Session 2014-2015

Indian Institute of Technology, Madras invites application for admission to M.Tech programme for the new academic session 2014-2015, commencing from July 2014. Interested applicants can send their both application in the prescribed format on or before 12 April and 21 April 2014.
The 2-year (four-semester) M.Tech Programmes offered in various Disciplines and Programmes by different departments of the institute are based on the credit system and provide a student with a wide choice of courses.

2. AIPMT 2014: Download Admit Card Afresh

The AIPMT 2014 Admit Cards uploaded on 01 April 2014 on the official website have been declared invalid. According to a notice released at AIPMT website, the admit cards downloaded before 7 PM on 02 April 2014 are not valid, and that candidates are required to download admit cards afresh.
Candidates please make note that those who have applied with late fee will be able to download their admit card only after 10 April 2014.

3. India offers 200 Scholarships to Students of Nepal

Under a scheme to boost Human Resource Development, Government of India has provided 200 scholarships, to students of Nepal on the basis of performance and merit.
Education Minister of Nepal Chitralekha Yadav and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae have together offered Scholarship amount and certificate of merits to the 12th batch of the Golden Jubilee Scholarship recipients in a function that held at Kathmandu.
The Indian Government introduced the Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme in 2002 with an aim to honor the 50th year of Economic Cooperation between India and Nepal, as told by a statement of Indian Embassy.

4. IIIT-A cancels appointment of 16 teachers done by former Director

The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A) has cancelled 16 appointments of teachers and increment of one teacher has been withdrawn, which was done during the tenure of former Director.
These appointments took place on April 6, 2013 by the then Director of IIIT-A, Dr M D Tiwari.

5. Bangalore University affiliates 30 new colleges

Bangalore University has affiliated 30 more colleges thereby increasing the total number of colleges to 530 from 500.
The syndicate meeting held recently recommended to give fresh affiliation to 30 colleges and to renew affiliation of 500 colleges Following Local Inquiry Committee (LIC) reports.
The university received 550 applications in total. Of that, 502 were seeking renewal of affiliation and permanent affiliation and 48 applications sought fresh affiliation (new colleges). Among them, the syndicate cleared the renewal of 500 colleges and 30 new ones.

6. Over 1600 Visited the Website Uploaded with Leaked Class 12th Physics Paper: CBSE

More than 1600 viewers checked the websites on which the CBSE Class 12th Physics Question Papers leaked allegedly in Manipal, were uploaded, told Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to High Court.
A bench headed by Acting Chief Justice B D Ahmed is currently hearing a PIL in related matter. The PIL filed by Delhi-based lawyer Rajiv Ranjan Dwivedi had asked the CBSE to investigate into the claim that the question papers were leaked, circulated on web sites and were also being sold in markets in Manipur. In addition, the PIL seeks re-examination of CBSE Class 12th Physics Exam not only in Manipal but also across the nation.

7. Ambedkar University Delhi Launches an MA Programme in Social Entrepreneurship

Ambedkar University, Delhi (AUD) is going to launch an M. A. Programme in Social Entrepreneurship from the current academic session 2014-15, for which the application process will be held from 07 April to 07 May 2014.
The Director of School of Business, Public Policy and Social Entrepreneurship, AUD, Kuriakose Mamkoottam said that the programme will introduce the students to the emerging area of social entrepreneurship, and the importance of social impact on communities.

8. England's foreign students fall for first time in 30 years

LONDON: The number of international students attending England's universities has dropped for the first time in three decades, a study said on Wednesday, with students from India and Pakistan hit by tighter visa rules.
The Higher Education Funding Council for England found foreign student numbers declined by 1.5 per cent in 2012-2013 - the first fall in 29 years.
Numbers fell to 307,205, down from 311,800 the previous year.

9. Singapore's methods inspire Maharashtra education board

PUNE: Arithmetic, in most state board schools, is taught by the paper-and-pen method. However, the scene may change as the board is contemplating a move to adopt some of Singapore's teaching and learning methods.
Primary school children in the island nation solve mathematical problems in a concrete, pictorial and abstract process. First, they get hands-on training with chips and dice, then they move to a pictorial representation of mathematical concepts and in the third step to numbers and symbols for solving problems.

10. Mica achieves 100% placement

AHMEDABAD: Mica, India's premier B-School in strategic marketing and communication, has registered 100% placement for its 19th batch of PGDM-Communications students. A total of 153 students from a batch of 156 had opted to be placed through the institute's campus placement process called MICAlibre.
A total of 85 companies had visited the campus for the placements where the highest salary offered touched Rs 23 lakh per annum. This is a hike from last year's Rs 19.6 lakh a year. The average CTC offered was Rs 9.3 lakh, marginally higher than 2013. Additionally, two students also acquired international placements.
