1. CISCE Rescheduled the Date of History Paper for ISC Exam 2014 due to Poll

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has declared the change in the date of the examination for its Indian School Certificate (Class 12) History subject exam in view of the clashing dates with the Lok Sabha polls.
As per the CISCE circular issued on March 10, about the new rescheduled date of ISC History exam, which originally was to be conducted on 7 April 2014 (Monday), the exam will now held on 11 April 2014 (Friday).

2. IIT-Jodhpur Notified Admission for PhD Programmes 2014

Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur invites application for admission to PhD Programmes for the Semester commencing from July 2014.
IIT Jodhpur has organized the research activity in two sets, as follows:
Classical Areas: individual disciplines of engineering, science and humanities and social sciences, and
Emerging Areas: domains of research centers of the Institute.

3. Out of 44 universities in Karnataka only 9 have valid accreditation

As per recent National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) report only nine universities from Karnataka have valid accreditation certificates, while there are 44 universities in state.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has made accreditation for higher education institutions mandatory in January 2013 to avail funds. It has asked universities to apply for accreditation by June this year.

However, of the 44 universities in the state, 13 are less than six years old and therefore are ineligible for NAAC accreditation, leaving quality concerns unanswered. While, five universities come under other accreditation agencies.

4. IIM-A Students Plans to build Edupreneur Village in India

Having grand vision, three students from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) have sidelined the lucrative job opportunities that they can grab easily to create a wisdom village in India. The students with a dream of building India's version of Silicon Valley for education, have plans on creating 'Edupreneur Village' which can be foreseen as common place where all the education entrepreneurs, technology, products and services shall be working together.

5. IIPM invites application for reach out-Coffee Entrepreneurship programme

Indian Institute of Plantation Management (IIPM), Bangalore (promoted by Ministry of Commerce and Industry, GOI) and Coffee Board have developed a short-term executive programme that would provide an overview of the potential for Coffee entrepreneurship. A Reach-out-Coffee Entrepreneurship is being organized in Kolkata from 20-22 March, 2014.
The objective of the reach-out programme on Coffee Entrepreneurship is to provide significant Techno-Managerial knowledge by nascent coffee entrepreneurs, IIPM faculty and technical experts to establish and manage high-growth coffee business.

6. FIR registered in SSC algebra paper leak in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Kandivli (W) police station has registered an FIR against a 16-yr-old SSC candidate under sections 6 (possession of question paper before exam) and 7 (copying) of Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractice at University, Board and other Specified Examinations Act, 1982.
This students studies at in Borivli and was appearing for his exams at Y B Chavan High School on Tuesday. Maharashtra state board provides four different sets (A, B, C and D) for Maths and Science papers.

7. Indian higher education faces many challenges, UPSC chief says

BELGAUM: Indian higher education has many challenges of expansion, excellence, equity, empowerment and evolution, Union Public Service Commission Chairman Dr D P Agrawal said on Saturday.
Delivering the convocation address of Rani Channamma University here, Agrawal also said the biggest challenge to be faced by educationists in the coming years would be the availability of quality faculty at all levels and more so at senior levels.

8. IIM Indore announced admission notification for IPM 2014-19

Indian Institute of Management Indore invited applications for admission to five-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). The eligible candidates can submit applications before 4 April 2014.

9. No Indian university in top 100 global list, Harvard voted best

CHENNAI: None of India's 700 universities and 35,539 colleges has made it to the top 100 list of the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings released on Thursday.
This means that academics don't think too highly of the capabilities and work of our higher educational institutions.


10. Madras HC stays proceedings against Tamil Nadu medical college

Madras High Court has stayed proceedings against TD Naidu, Managing Trustee of Deenadayal (D D Medical College) Medical and Educational Trust of Tiruvallur in a cheating case registered against him.
Justice C T Selvam granted interim stay while ordering issue of notice to the SP and DSP Thiruvallur district.
Petitioner's submitted that Medical Council of India (MCI) had communicated to the Health Secretary to take action against DD Medical College for its 'fraudulent' activities which was challenged and pending adjudication before the High Court.
