1. CAT 2013 Results to be declared on 14 January 2014

Jan 12. The much awaited CAT Results 2013 is going to be announced on Tuesday, 14 January 2014 (tomorrow) at 9 am. Candidates would be able to view their results either on the CAT's official website:
They can access the results by using their username, password and roll number. The CAT Scorecard 2013 will be available between 14 January 2014 and 31 December 2014 at the CAT's website for only those candidates who have appeared for CAT 2013.

2. IIT- Kharagpur Invites Applications

Jan 11. IIT - Kharagpur's Department of Humanities and Social Science, invites application for its 2 year Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) programme. The programme focuses on the development of knowledge, skill and attitude among the students to help them meet the requirements of the modern organisation as HR professionals.
This aim of this course is to groom budding HR Professionals with the right mix of strong business foundation along with solid HR skills. The areas in which career can be made after completing the course are Manufacturing, IT, Service Sector, Public Sector and NGOs.

3. 75 Sports School to be opened across the India by the Central Government

Jan 10. To encourage students and youngsters possessing sporting talents, the central government is all set to establish 75 sports schools across the country in next three years. The project would incur a budget of around Rs. 2,200 crore over 10 years.
Project in its pilot stage will launch only one or two sports schools in each State and Union Territory of the country. Later on nearly 35 sports schools will be commenced in the first year and subsequently 20 schools will be built by next second and third year.


4. Maharashtra Plans Set up a Technological University

Maharashtra Government on 9 January has announced to establish a Technological University of All Engineering and Technology Institutes that will have four divisional centres and five sub centres spread in various cities of Maharashtra.
The engineering and technological institutes which will be set up in different cities in the state will enable the students to pursue graduate and post-graduation degree courses in various disciples from these colleges.
The divisional centres of the proposed university will be built in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Aurangabad and the sub-divisional centres would be constructed in Kolhapur, Solapur, Amravati, Nanded and Jalgaon cities, as decided in the Cabinet meeting.

5. UPTET 2014: Notification

Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board invited application for the Teacher Eligibility Test 2014. The candidates eligible for the examination can apply through prescribed format before 21 January 2014.

6. 90% reservation for DU locals: Anti-migrant decision?

Jan 09. Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia has proposed to reserve 90 per cent seats in Delhi University's colleges for local students. This proposal was termed as "anti-migrant" by Congress MP from north Mumbai Sanjay Nirupam. Although the move was cheered by city students it has not found favor with others from across India.
Sanjay Nirupam quoted, "Your proposal to reserve 90 per cent seats in all fully-funded colleges of Delhi University for students of Delhi alone smacks of an anti-migrant mindset which will harm the cosmopolitan character of this great city, which is also the national education hub."

8. California University to start Indian campus in Chandigarh with PTU

Jan 5. Chandigarh: Punjab Technical University (PTU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) last Monday for setting up an Institute of Excellence (IOE) at Chandigarh.
"We are happy to invite the University of California to set up their campus in New Chandigarh Education City that will be spread over 2000 hectares in the city. I assure foreign institutes of all possible help - be it permissions, sanctions and clearances; or infrastructure including land. The state government shall bear all the cost. As of now Delhi is the education hub in the North. However we wish to change this and present Punjab as a better alternative. If we are to export manpower to developed countries which have largely ageing population, our youth should be competent enough to contribute in this globalized atmosphere. For this we need institutions here that impart quality education," said Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab at the MoU signing.

10. SNAP 2013 results on 9 January, 2014

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test or SNAP is a common entrance examination for admission to post graduate programmes at 13 institutes that fall under Symbiosis International University (SIU). SNAP scores are an essential admission criterion to apply to these institutes for various MBA programmes.
