1. India Stands at the Second Position in Australia's International Students Chart

Dec 08, 2013. As per the newest data, Indian students make the second largest strata of foreign students pursuing higher education in Australian Universities. The number of Indian students to pursue their higher education in Australia has attained higher growth this year.
This year the Indian students undertaking higher Education in Australian Universities have grown up to the mark, and the total enrollment reached over 15,800 within months of January to October. However, last year the figure was 12,062 for the same period.

2. Samsung Came Up as the Biggest Recruiter for National Institute of Design (NID) Students

Dec 09, 2013. At National Institute of Design (NID), 36 companies arrived to recruit its students on 7 December, the second day of the 3 day campus placements event. Total 178 job offers have already been made in the two days. Samsung R & D Institute (India) has made 18 jobs offers in total for NID students. The two day placements scenario observed company Cognizant, currentlybeing the biggest recruiter in the campus providing 26 job offers
The industry interface at NID has up till now observed participation of 76 firms on December6 till 8. However, 96 companies in total are anticipated to arrive at the premier design institute for this year's placements.

3. Madras Medical College MMC to Collaborate with UK's Hull York University

Dec 09, 2013. The Madras Medical College (MMC) is soon to partnership with the Hull York University of United Kingdom. At the Institute of Community Medicine in Madras Medical College, a workshop on 6 December was held in which representatives of both the institutes were present.
Director and MMC Dean of Medical Education, Dr. V Kanagasabai attended the workshop along with other senior officials from the state Directorate of Public Health, lecturers and professors from city medical colleges and students.

4. High Court Issued Notice To UGC And Haryana Government Over Teaching Staff Retirement Age

Dec 10, 2013.Justice Rajiv Narain Raina of the Punjab and Haryana high court issued a notice to the government and University Grants Commission (UGC) after picking up the petition alleging of the inequality in retirement age of teaching staff and faculty of both Government as well as Private colleges in Haryana.
Justice Rajiv Narain Raina heard the petition submitted by a working associate professor, Om Prakash Wadhwa of a government college of Rohtak.

5. Cambridge International Examinations will Follow Indian Examination Schedule

Dec 07, 2013. Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) has decided to follow the exam schedule according to the Indian academic calendar. In India and adjacent countries the board shall be taking the International A-level exams (pre-university) in the month of March.
In the past, the international series of exams use to hold in June and November which led many students to go absent in the undergraduate admission in several Indian institutions.

7. ICSI Admit Cards for December 2013 Available for download today

Dec 09, 2013. The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) will make available today, the admit cards for the December 2013 session for the following upcoming exams - Foundation Programme 2013, Executive Programme (Old / New Syllabus) 2013, Professional Programme Examination 2013.
The CS admit cards would be available on the following website in a couple of hours:

Please note that the ICSI admit cards can only be downloaded online and won't be dispatched by post. All CS candidates can download their admit cards through www.icsi.indiaeducaton.net after entering their 17 digit registration number.

8. 10 Indian Institutes in World's First BRICS and Emerging Economies' University Rankings

The Times Higher Education (THE) magazine today published its 'BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings 2014' - world's first ranking for universities in Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS), and 17 other emerging economies. India sees 10 of its institutions in the top 100, including nine in the top 50.

Leading the rankings is the Panjab University at the 13th rank followed by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur (30th rank), IIT Kanpur (34th rank), IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee (tied at the 37th rank), IIT Guwahati (46th rank), IIT Madras and Jadavpur University (tied at the 47th rank), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU)(50th rank) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) (57th rank.)

9. There is shortage of six lakh teachers in country: Pallam Raju

Dec 09, 2013. Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Dr M M Pallam Raju has said that there is a shortage of six lakh teachers in the country and initiatives are being taken to fill the gap as the focus is to provide quality education.
“We have made strides with regard to infrastructure development, teacher recruitment as well as enrolments including that of girls and minority boys in school but need to focus more on quality education,” Raju said.
