1. 4,000 MBA students fail to give exam as server slows down

Nov 25, More than 4,000 first-year MBA students studying in different management colleges affiliated to the University of Pune (UoP) could not take the online examination of certain subjects after the server slowed down on Friday.

2. FMS announced Two Year Executive MBA Programmes 2014

Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) invited applications for admission to Two Year MBA-Executive & MBA-Executive (Health Care Administration) Programmes 2014. 3. All India Post-Graduate Dental (MDS) Course Entrance Examination 2014

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has invited applications for All India Post-Graduate Dental Entrance Examination 2014 for admissions against 50% All India Quota of Postgraduate (MDS) courses in various Dental Colleges in the Country. 4. Two IIT-Madras students received Scholarship by Annual Nissan Global Foundation

Two IIT-M students have received the fourth Annual Nissan Global Foundation Scholarship, awarded by both Nissan and Indian Institute of Technology.
Both Students Suraj Vallamkonda and Sripriya Kalidoss, belonging to Mechanical Engineering department, were picked by a united committee of Nissan Global Foundation and IIT Madras (IIT-M). The duo would get a monetary grant of Rs 1.2 lakh for two years.

5. 5 day Short Term Course by IIHS, 'Urban Centric Film and Photography Course'

02-DEC-2013 , National Education institution, The Indian Institute of Human Settlements (IIHS), declared a short duration course on 'Ways of Seeing' - An urban centric film and photography course.
The venue of the course is decided as the IIHS City Campus in Bangalore scheduled on December 18 and ending on December 22, 2013.
As told by the IIHS, the course will teach using a combination of theory and practical.

6. 15 schools felicitated for community services

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) commemorated the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, freedom fighter and the first Education Minister of India, by celebrating the National Educational Day.
To celebrate this day CBSE has introduced themes for schools every year. This year the theme for the day is 'Human Rights and Social Equality.'

8. Punjab University dental institute to remain closed after student's suicide

Authorities at Punjab University (PU) on Sunday announced that the Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital would remain closed Monday following the death of a second year student.
The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) student, Anukrita Tripathi was found dead in her house in Sector 32 Friday, having committed suicide after failing to clear some examinations.Police later found a suicide note in one of her books in which she had named senior faculty member Savita Prashar, an associate professor in the institute, as responsible for her death.

9. UPSC Announces NDA 2013 Final Results

Dec 02, Union Public Service Commission releases list of final 469 candidates selected for the 132nd session of National Defence Academy (NDA) and 94th session of Indian Naval Academy (INA). Admission is based on Written Examination conducted by UPSC and interview held by the Services Selection Board of the Ministry of Defence. The admission is provisional based on submitting the required certificates in original. Courses begin from 2nd January 2014.
The results for the NDA and INA written examination held on 11th August 2013 were announced by UPSC on 31st October 2013. The written exam consists of 2 Papers; Mathematics (300 maximum marks) and General Ability Test (600 maximum marks). Both Papers consist of objective-type multiple choice questions that need to be completed in 2.5 hours. Negative marking is applicable. Around 6,100+ candidates cleared the written test and qualified for the interview.

10. SNAP 2013: Tips and Tricks

Dec 1, Symbiosis International University (SIU), one of India's best Private universities conducts the Symbiosis National Aptitude test for Post Graduation for admission to MBA courses at 13 of its centers. The entire process has been revamped for SNAP 2013 and will now feature centralized interview and written test in addition to objective-type SNAP. However, SNAP marks (80%) and previous academic merits (20%) are used to short list candidates for the Personal Interview/Interaction and Written Aptitude Test (PI-WAT) so it's important to score high! Here are some tips!
Syllabus
SNAP 2014 consists of objective type multiple choice questions with total 180 marks, to complete in 2 hours. Negative marking is applicable. Topics covered are:
1. General English: Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Ability - 40 marks
2. Quantitative, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency - 40 marks
3. General Awareness: General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Business Scenario - 40 marks
4. Analytical and Logical Reasoning - 60 marks
Tips
- Although the level of questions may seem easier as compared to other competitive exams, the number of questions is more so its essential to focus on speed in addition to accuracy
- Prepare a study schedule and include minimum of 2 topics per day, increasing to all 4 as exam date approaches
- Study the basic concepts from NCERT books before working on questions
- GK section is where aspirants usually face difficulty. Devote more time to GK to save from any pitfalls. Read newspapers and current affairs. Pay special attention to Business related current events.
