1. 1.94 lakh MBA aspirants appeared for CAT 2013

CAT is an all-India test conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs)as an entrance examination for the management programs offered by its business schools (B-schools) as well as other top Master of Business Administration (MBA) schools. Other than the 13 IIMs, more than 100 B-schools in India use CAT scores to grant admission to students into their management courses.
CAT is normally conducted every year during a 21 day testing window (estimate but may vary) in the months of October and November. A candidate can appear for CAT only once during the 20-day testing window. The test score is valid for admission to the forthcoming academic year only.

Maharashtra Board to include a Chapter on Sachin Tendulkar in its Curriculum
The Maharashtra Education Department has decided to make a home for a Chapter on Sachin Tendulkar in the Curriculum of the State Board. The department came up with this decision a day after the legend took retirement from the international cricket right after playing his 200th yet final Test Match against West Indies at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
"Sachin Tendulkar is an icon. He helped draw global attention to India. Future generations should know about him," said Rajendra Darda, Maharashtra Education Minister, on 17 November 2013. He said that they had held meetings and came up with the decision of adding a chapter on him in one of our textbooks soon."

3. CBSE announced the date for Board Examination 2014

Central Board of Secondary Education announced the date for Board Examination 2014 of Class X will start from 1st March 2014. Previously, the examination was conducted from1st March to 15th March 2013. The first examination that conducted in CBSE Class 10 Board Examination 2013 was Painting having Subject code 049.

4. IIM-C Tops among IIMs for Producing Research Papers

While addressing the 52 Foundation Day celebrations of the Indian Institute of Management - Calcutta (IIM-C) on 15 November 2013, the chairman of the institute's Board of Governors Ajit Balakrishnan said that in all the previous years, the IIM-C has produced research papers more than what all the other IIMs have produced together.
“In the past year; 66 papers were written, presented and published in international journals. Sixty eight were presented in international conferences. Fourteen in national conferencing and 29 other working papers,” he said.

7. AIIMS embraces technology

In medical education, traditionally, students have been taught through different techniques, which include blackboard, slides, field visits, etc. "With changes being made in the curriculum, using tech aids has became a priority to help students. 9. Aligarh Muslim University ties up with Ohio Varsity

Aligarh, Nov 11 The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), yesterday, signed a deal with the Ohio State University (OSU) to establish a joint centre in Aligarh for education and research in science and technology.
An eight-member delegation from the OSU in Columbus, led by Vice Provost William Brustein met AMU Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. (retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah and other university officials. According to the agreement, a joint OSU-AMU Centre of Excellence in STEM Education and Research will be established at AMU. STEM fields comprise science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The centre will have digitally-equipped classrooms with computers and internet connectivity. Each classroom will have a large, centrally-located and computer-connected projection high-definition TV.

10. AIIMS ties up with Michigan University for bio-medical research

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is tying up with the University of Michigan in the US to fortify its research prowess in bio-medical sciences.
The two institutions will work together in areas such as cancer research, trauma care and research in translational aspects of immunology, genetics and stem cell biology, said professor N K Mehra, dean of research at AIIMS.
The memorandum of understanding will be signed tomorrow by AIIMS director M C Mishra and president of UM, Mary Sue Coleman in the presence of Union health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Union health secretary Keshav Desiraju.
