1. For MBA Admissions CMAT is Now An Option And Not Compulsion

The B-schools and management colleges need not compulsorily adopt the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for selecting eligible candidates to their college for MBA courses, as ordered by Delhi High court. Earlier, the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) mandated adoption of CMAT entrance exam in most B-schools. This ruling was given out by a Division Bench of Justice N.V. Ramana and Justice Manmohan of Delhi High court, while hearing an appeal aligned with the Single Bench order by the Federation of Association of Management of Unaided Professional Educational Institutions in India (FAMUEI).

2. JEE (Main) 2014: Notification by CBSE

The JEE (Main)-2014 will be organised by the JEE Apex Board for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programmes offered by NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, participating State Government Institutions etc. In this the aspirants have choice to select either Pen and Paper Based Exam OR Computer Based Exam mode.
JEE (Main) 2014 will contain two papers i.e. Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.) and Paper-2 (B. Arch./B.Planning.). Depending upon the course(s) candidates are seeking admission, they can opt for Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.), or Paper-2 (B. Arch./B. Planning.), or both.

3. UPSC CDS Examination (I) 2014: Notification

Union Public Service Commission invited application for Combined Defence Services Examination (I) 2014. Eligible candidates have to send their online application in the prescribed format before 02 December 2013 till 11.59 PM. The examination will be conducted for filling 509 vacancies under Air Force Academy, Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, and Officers Training Academy.

4. Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) will be back from 2014, NEET Removed

The Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) will return in the state from 2014, being as the common one entrance exam for admission to each professional degree courses under Medicine field (Dentistry, Pharmacy, Homeopathy, etc.) and Technical/Engineering studies.
GCET will commence on May 7 and May 8, 2014 as per the decision of Directorate of technical education (DTE). Due to entry of GCET again, the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET) will not hold anymore.

5. UGC to Check Net Answer Sheets Again Manually After 25000 Students Were Disqualified Mistakenly

After finding more than 25000 candidates mistakenly disqualified because of their use of whitener/corrector fluid, now the University Grants Commission (UGC) shall correct and check all of the NET answer sheets manually.
From page 3 admitting the error in judgment, UGC will again assess the answer sheets manually for the exam NET. This is because of the issue of computer checking which disqualified thousands of students all over India who appeared in the NET exam. The computer could not correctly judge because of the scratch marks or the use of corrector whitener on the answer sheets.

6. Gujarat, Maharashtra and Odisha join JEE (Main) system

Gujarat, Maharashtra and Odisha have joined the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) system that was introduced from this year for admission to premier technical institutes in the country.
According to a press release issued by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) , candidates seeking admission to institutes in the states, which previously carried out admissions through their own state-level exams, have been asked to fill in the JEE (Main) 2014 application form online.

In around two years from now, students and faculty of IIM-T will get to study, exercise and each in a four star rated 'green building' with the very latest in audio and visual tools.
The massive 1.15 lakh square feet four storeyed adminstrative block will have an auditorium with seating for 1500, gymnasium, indoor stadium, clinic, virtual digital library and video conferencing facility. The well stocked library would have 9,000 volumes of books and journals.

9. NIT to offer free coaching to less-privileged students

JAMSHEDPUR: To provide knowledge support to aspiring engineers of marginalized communities, National Institute of Technology (NIT-Adityapur) has started free coaching classes for boys and girls of surrounding villages.
The Centre for Community Welfare of NIT, as part of its social responsibility programme, has introduced free coaching classes for students of Class VIII-Class XII of adjoining villages. These classes are also intended to prepare students for entrance examination to various engineering colleges."This will give them an opportunity to study in institutes of repute such as NIT," said NIT director Ram Babu Kodali on Thursday on the objective of the educational scheme commencing November 1.

10. It's raining job offers at IIT Kharagpur

KOLKATA: The volatile market situation coupled with archaic government policies may have dried up opportunities on the job front, but at IIT Kharagpur, offers have started pouring in even before the placement season kicked in.At least 110 final-year students already have enviable job offers in their kitty. Global giants have recruited best brains of the oldest IIT almost a month before the placement starts on December 1.
The management of the institute is particularly happy with a 100% growth in pre-placement offer figures. In 2011, the number of students picked up by companies before placements stood at 54.
